The COVID-19 Pandemic Has Drastically Altered the Medical Landscape.

Join the Vascular Surgery COVID-19 Collaborative (VASCC) Community – Understanding Impacts of COVID-19 in Real-World Vascular patients. We aim to evaluate the impact of COVID-19 on the care of patients with vascular disease.

The VASCC Registry led by Max Wohlauer, MD, at the University of Colorado and Robert Cuff, MD, at Michigan State University,  is being supported and conducted in collaboration with CPC Clinical Research. Please considering being a VASCC investigator!

1 | Why is VASCC important?

The unexpected and rapid onset of the COVID pandemic forced many institutions to delay procedures in order to prevent infection and to preserve resources. In addition, many patients became fearful of presenting to health care institutions due to the perceived risk of infection. The consequences of delayed procedures and care in this high risk population are already becoming apparent but understanding the full impact is critical to inform programs to improve outreach and care and to inform the approach to further health crises.

In addition, the coagulopathy of COVID 19 is now well described but the impacts in patients with complex vascular disease are not well understood. The VASCC registry will provide robust data to answer both of these questions.

2 | What is VASCC?

VASCC is a multinational collaborative registry capturing the impacts of COVID 19 on the care and outcomes of patients with complex vascular disease. It is a high quality registry supported by University of Colorado and CPC that is now active in over 22 countries. It is led by Max Wohlauer, MD, at the University of Colorado and Robert Cuff, MD, at Michigan State University and all participating centers are engaged in a collaborative steering committee.

All academic output is shared amongst the contributing investigators and aligned with contribution.

Currently VASCC in comprised of two individual projects of which investigators may choose to contribute to one or both.

3 | How can you get involved?

VASCC is a pragmatic, inclusive and collaborative mission driven study that will have high impact. It also is hoped to continue as a lasting registry in vascular disease. Those who collaborate will have access to data and to academic leadership.

There are 2 current projects that you can sign-up to be part of:

  • Project 1: Impact of COVID-19 on scheduled vascular operations
  • Project 2: Thrombotic complications of COVID-19
